Autumn 1 – an avenue on fire and a blue path through it
A glowing autumn avenue: the trees on both sides burn in orange, red and gold, while between them a path winds from the lower centre into the distance – and it is the path that is the cool soul of the painting, rendered in blue-violet knife strokes and strewn with fallen orange leaves.
Technique & Texture
The crowns are dense knife plates, the leaves on the ground tiny relief daubs. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – warm and cool colour meet in every stroke of the path, where orange glows through the blue.
The Motif
The right side of the avenue is denser and redder, with scattered teal leaf accents in the thicket; on the left a green strip of grass opens beside the path. The path curves gently to the left and finally dissolves into the white-gold light burning through the crowns above, left of centre – the walk’s destination is pure light.
