Golden Layers – horizontal golden sweeps in a white haze
A white-grey atmosphere crossed at many heights by horizontal gold-bronze sweeps: from flecks at the top edge, through the strongest broad band at a good quarter of the height, to a clear band below the centre and scattered drops lower down – a rhythm that reads like a musical score.
Technique & Texture
The widths of the sweeps range from pencil-thin to a finger wide; in the broadest ones the knife texture is visible. This is a hand-painted work of art – every sweep has its own pressure, its own speed and its own ending.
The Motif
The gold gathers in the upper two thirds – the strongest mass left of centre with a cluster at the right edge – while the lower quarter calms down: fewer sweeps, paler tones, more haze. Grey blurred zones in the corners and along the left edge give the white ground its depth.
