Description
The Arc – a dark curve and ribbed white
A mixed-material composition in earth tones: from the top edge, a large smooth olive-brown form descends along the whole right side to the lower sixth, with a single clean curve as its left edge – an arc that commands the right third of the canvas. At the upper left it is answered by a grey-beige plaster block with darker frame lines.
Technique & Texture
The lower left half is ruled by white-cream plaster with a corduroy-ribbed texture: a horizontal ribbed strip crosses the left half just above mid-height, and at the centre stands a large white ribbed form shaped like a flag or the number seven, with fine vertical ribs. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – smooth, cracked and ribbed are three real materials.
The Motif
The composition is locked by two small black forms – a rectangle at the left edge and a vertical bar beside a tiny ribbed grille at the centre – two architectural keys that stake out the earth tones.
Styling & Placement

Arch for a narrow wall, a console or a stairwell
Arch is an upright painting in 13 sizes, from 40 x 60 to 180 x 235 cm. The olive-brown arc and the white ribbed form sit well on a narrow wall by a door at 60 x 90 cm, beside an armchair or sofa at 80 x 120 cm, above a console about 150 cm wide at 100 x 130 cm, and in a stairwell with a high ceiling at 110 x 150 or 120 x 155 cm. In the photograph Arch hangs in a thin pale frame on a light wall beside a white armchair and a floor lamp.
Choose YES in the Stretcher menu and Arch arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. The frame in the photograph is optional, and the Frame menu for Arch starts at Without frame. Delivery takes 15–45 days. The smooth, cracked and ribbed surfaces are hand-painted with plaster and knife, so the painting Arch is not a print.
Arch: answers for buyers
Is the frame from the photograph included with Arch?
No, the pale frame is only an option in the Frame menu, which for Arch starts at Without frame.
Which size of Arch suits a stairwell?
Under a high ceiling choose 110 x 150 or 120 x 155 cm, so the olive-brown arc runs past several steps.
Can I order Arch in a size not among the 13 listed?
Yes, if no size from 40 x 60 to 180 x 235 cm fits, we paint the arc and its ribbed planes as a painting made to order.
