Golden Reflections – rows of gold dots over water
A panorama – rows of round gold, copper and brown dots march across the middle between a silver-white impasto sky and a mint-teal water zone with reflections: vertical dots in gold, copper, chestnut and white are densely packed into three or four loose rows across the full width, and the band dips slightly left of centre and thickens at both ends.
Technique & Texture
A few grey dots sit along the top edge of the band near the centre, and the reflections of the dots descend in streams down into the water zone like dripping. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the longest reflections reach deep into the water, and the hypnotic rhythm of the dots leads the eye across the full width.
The Motif
The sky is a silver-white knife impasto with lilac-grey shadows, heaviest at the upper left and upper right, while the mint-teal water below the middle carries a white sheen and thin vertical traces. A hypnotic rhythm of golden reflections, where the shining sky mirrors itself in the calm water.
