Description
Ambient – A Monumental Circle with Engraved Signs
An intellectual abstraction: a gigantic grey-cream circle, placed slightly right of centre and spanning almost the full height of the canvas, surrounded by blocks of colour – matte orange on the left, red verticals along the far left edge, a dark blue wedge at the upper left, and a blue field along the lower edge.
Technique & Texture
The interior of the circle is a plaster surface engraved with drawings: arcs, grids, writing-like scribbles, interwoven with scratch marks. It is a hand-painted artistic painting – every incision was made into fresh paint, once and definitively.
The Motif
Right of the circle’s centre shine two tiny golden dots like eyes, at the lower right and upper right trail faint red threads, and across the top of the circle runs a dark arc like an eyebrow. The circle acts like an ancient tablet with a message every reader deciphers in their own way.
Styling & Placement
Wall art for spaces that value reflection – studies, offices, modern living rooms. The colour blocks give it strength, the circle gives it calm.

Ambient: size, stretcher and frame
Ambient is painted in 14 square sizes, from 40 x 40 to 180 x 180 cm. Let the engraved grey-cream circle take up about two thirds of the width of the furniture beneath it: over a 200 cm sofa the circle and its orange blocks work at 130 x 130 or 140 x 140 cm, above a bed 160–180 cm wide choose 110 x 110 or 120 x 120 cm, over a 150 cm sideboard 100 x 100 cm, and in a hallway 60 x 60 cm.
In the photograph Ambient hangs above a blue sofa with a red cushion, in a thin frame. Choose YES under Stretcher and the canvas with its two golden dots arrives on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. A frame is optional: for Ambient the Frame menu begins at Without frame. Delivery takes 15–45 days. Every incision in the plaster surface was cut into wet paint, so this painting is hand-painted and not a print.
