Wall art spins wide orange-copper arcs into a shape that reads as an eye and lays it across the middle of the canvas, with a grey, ribbed plane at its centre: abstract painting whose arcs never close, because an opening is left on the left side.
Technique and texture
The arcs were raised out of the paint and then cut across with a comb, so every one of them carries parallel furrows. The red field was laid thick and swirled into fine spirals that only appear from close range. White spherical dots lie scattered over the whole surface, put down last and sitting above everything else.
The motif
The upper and lower arcs stop short of one another, and the gap on the left is what keeps the shape from becoming a ring. The grey centre is divided by vertical cuts and is the brightest part of the picture, so the eye is drawn into it before anywhere else. A dark square plane lies in the upper left corner and is the only regular figure on the canvas.
