Description

Golden Band – a grainy coastline from the air
A grainy coastline seen from the air, in three layers: a dark grey band of sky or sea across the top, its lower boundary softly undulating and stepping down right of centre – a visible fault in the coast – and beneath it, in the upper two fifths, glows the golden band, richest in ochre-gold left of centre and at the centre, thinning and fading toward the right edge.
Technique & Texture
Everything below the gold is a pale white-grey lowland that claims the lower sixty percent and drains downward in barely visible vertical trickles, calmest at the bottom. This is a hand-painted work of art – the whole surface is heavy grainy impasto with a sandy relief.
The Motif
Three registers, three speeds: dark density above, golden energy in the upper two fifths, white silence below. The band does not lie at the centre but high – so the painting breathes downward, like a coast at low tide.
Styling & Placement
A panoramic decorative painting for living rooms, offices and dining rooms; the sandy texture and the golden band pair beautifully with wood, linen and brass – abstract wall art with a coastline’s calm.
