Universe II – rings around a bright centre
Wall art coils concentric rings around a white-silver core lying left of centre: painting on canvas made with one continuous circular gesture repeated in ever-wider orbits until it runs out of canvas.
Technique and texture
Because the blade never lifted, the furrows stay parallel and cross nowhere. The core is the thickest part of the picture: white and silver are gathered there into a ridge that catches light at a sharp angle. Toward the outer edges the paint was pulled drier, and the canvas comes through in places.
The motif
The core is not at the centre of the canvas, so the rings are not symmetrical — those on the left run narrow and tight, those on the right wide and drawn out. A darker blue from an underlayer breaks through between the blue-greens here and there. There is no object; movement is the whole motif.
Setting and placement
A cool palette is a counterweight rather than an accent: against warm timber or brick it steadies a room instead of competing with it. The turning motion is slow and even, which is why this one holds up in a bedroom or a bathroom as readily as in a bright living room.
