After 1910, Klimt began to abandon the gold color, the surface of the sika became richer in color, the lines were no longer so angular. Adele Bloch-Bauer was among the first to be impressed by his new style and convinced Klimt to paint her second portrait (b. 1912) in the new style, which is very different from the first one from 1907. Although Klimt’s style is also in this painting very decorative, but for a change the background is dominated by a floral pattern and a figural motif in colorful color combinations. Adela in this picture is no longer trapped in golden armor and does not represent a dominant and erotic being. The original work was sold at a Christie’s auction in November 2006 for USD 87.9 million to an unnamed buyer.
