A painter’s path: from Titian to Sorolla
As a pupil of Walter Falzari and of his father Sergio, a painter of animals, Budicin studied the old masters early. He began with Titian, continued with Velázquez and then turned to the painters of the 19th century – John Sargent, Joaquín Sorolla and Anders Zorn. For years he tested techniques and materials to reach the tones, effects and harmonies that mark his paintings.
Trieste as inspiration
Conscious of the strong painting tradition of his native city, Budicin devoted himself entirely to the craft of landscape and portrait painter. He finds his inspiration in Trieste: in views of the city by the sea, on the local beaches, in the woods and on the Karst plateau. The mountains and nearby Venice complete his range of motifs.

Budicin has exhibited since 2005; his solo shows include Painting and poetry (Galleria la Loggia, Udine, 2012), Roberto Budicin in Venice (Melori & Rosenberg, Venice, 2013), Journey into Color (Palazzo Comunale di Trieste, 2013), two exhibitions at Galleria Tribbio (Trieste, 2014 and 2016), Stories of colors (Glam Art Gallery, Trieste, 2019), Impressionism (ArcLab, Trieste, 2023), Landscapes, Views and Portraits (Palazzo Comunale di Trieste, 2023) and Portraits (Arcolab, Trieste, 2024).
