Flowers VII – three narrow columns of tulips
Painting on canvas rises in three tall, narrow fields, with red and orange flowers on long, thin stems. The upper half is pale, marbled in cream and faint yellow; the lower is darker, threaded with grey-green leaves painted like a run of spilled ink. The format stretches the motif upward and lifts the ceiling optically.
Technique & Texture
The ground is built in poured, translucent layers that flow into one another and leave outlines like stains on paper. The flowers are painted denser and more opaque, with visible brushwork following the direction of the petals. In a few places pale, almost white rectangles of thick paint sit on top like patches.
The Motif
Each field carries two larger flowers and one smaller or half-closed. The stems are long, bent, and lose themselves at the bottom in dark, poured undergrowth. Some heads turn upward and others hang down, so the composition is not symmetrical even though the panels are identical.
Styling & Placement
The pronounced upright format makes it wall art for walls with more height than width: corridors, stairwells, the strip between two windows. The cream picks up pale walls, and the red lifts a quiet scheme.
