In Space V – Cross of Rust
Wall art intersects a horizontal ochre band through a vertical brown mass and thickens metallic circles and rings where they meet — painting on canvas that reads at close range like an old worn machine.
Technique and texture
The densest load is at the centre, where the paint rises into relief and round rings of different sizes are pressed into it. The horizontal band is pulled in one wide sweep of the blade. The edge between the red and the ground is deliberately torn, and long grey and white runs travel down the lower part.
The motif
A dark brown vertical holds the middle with metallic grey circles distributed along it — the largest right of centre, smaller rings and dots around it. An ochre-gold band runs through it from edge to edge. Red appears in two blocks, upper left and lower right. The top edge is a cold blue-grey and the lower corners pass into olive green.
Setting and placement
A warm brown-red range does well in rooms with timber, brick or concrete — a living room, a dining room, an industrially furnished space. The landscape shape wants a wider wall and enough standing-back room for the cross to assemble.
