Bouquet III – white heads in a cool light
Painting on canvas spills white blossoms in a wide arc from a narrow, vertically fluted vase, and each head is its own slab of relief that the light redraws as you move — wall art built to be lit from the side rather than straight on. The ground behind is silver-grey, almost white in places, and dusted with small droplets.
Technique and texture
The petals are shaped with a palette knife in thick stacked layers. The ground is built from broad silver sweeps with white dots scattered across them. The vase is dark brown and grooved from top to bottom, which plants it firmly in the middle of the canvas.
The motif
The bouquet opens symmetrically to both sides and reaches the edges of the canvas. The flower centres are olive green with a dark dot, and they are the only break in an almost single-colour palette. Long green leaves and closed buds sit between the heads and give the arrangement a loose, unarranged rhythm.
Setting and placement
