Description

Golden Patches – a golden continent above grey rain
A two-part material abstraction: the upper forty-five percent is taken by a rough gold-bronze continent whose lower edge is torn like an organic coastline, dipping lowest at the centre, while the lower half is a smooth, cool grey field with vertical streams – a curtain of rain beneath the golden land.
Technique & Texture
The gold is laid in a thick, crusty layer; the grey below is smoothed and crossed with vertical traces. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the torn border between gold and grey is the real edge of a thick layer, not a drawn line.
The Motif
Within the golden continent lie eight to ten large rounded matte mid-grey patches – like craters in the gold – the largest at the upper right and left of centre, and one grey island has sunk just below the golden edge right of centre. Below, silvery light gathers at the left edge and a soft glow at the bottom centre.
Styling & Placement
Luxurious yet calm wall art for living rooms, dining rooms and reception areas; the gold above works as an accent over lower furniture, and the grey part ties it to concrete and stone.
