Neutral Planes – a mosaic of plaster blocks
A knife-laid mosaic of rectangles – white, grey, slate-blue, beige and graphite – densest across the left two thirds, with a rust-brown warmth glowing in the joints: the blocks stack into loose vertical columns, slate-blue at the top-centre, right of centre and left, and graphite at the upper left, left middle and lower centre.
Technique & Texture
Between the blocks at the centre a warm rust zone opens, and a tilted white plank floats at the lower right. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – each block carries its own texture and its own edge, laid with a single stroke of the knife.
The Motif
The right sixth and the lower right corner calm into a smooth grey wash, so the field breathes from the dense left edge toward the quiet right. A horizontal dynamic of blocks, where the rust-red accents among the greys warm the strict geometry.
