Description
Faces in the Mirror VI – one pupil across the whole canvas
Painting on canvas magnifies the head until only one blue eye, a cheek and part of the lips reach the crop — wall art at this scale stops being a portrait and starts behaving like a pattern.
Technique and texture
The colour is laid completely flat, with no modelling at all, so the canvas works as one large drawing. The black contours are the heaviest in the series and in places reach the width of a finger. The red strands are painted in a single tone and are kept apart by that black line alone.
The motif
The eye sits in the upper third and is the largest thing on the canvas, so that is where a look lands first. The lips in the lower right corner are cut in half and work as a second accent. Because the crop is this extreme, the subject loses its scale.
Setting and placement
Flat drawing and clean colour read as young rather than serious, and they hold up against lively furniture instead of needing calm around them. The upright crop gives it the place beside a door or in an entrance.
- Technique: hand-painted painting on canvas, entirely flat application, very heavy black contours, single-tone strands
- Palette: red, blue, sand, cream, black
- Ideal for: entrance halls, children’s rooms, hallways
- Character: bold, young, emphatically drawn

Faces in the Mirror VI for an entrance, hallway or child’s room
The blue eye, black contours and red strands of Faces in the Mirror VI are hand-painted on canvas in flat colour, so this is not a print. The upright format comes in 15 sizes, from 30 x 40 to 180 x 220 cm. Beside a door or on a narrow entrance wall, 50 x 60 or 60 x 73 cm works well, over a 90 cm console 60 x 73 cm, and above a chest of drawers in a child’s room 70 x 90 cm. By a staircase or on a tall entrance-hall wall choose 100 x 120, 110 x 135 or 140 x 170 cm.
Select YES under Stretcher and the canvas with the single blue eye arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher bar, ready to hang. No frame is included with the sand and red face, but if you want one, pick it in the Frame menu, which starts at Without frame. Delivery of the Faces in the Mirror VI painting takes 15–45 days.
