Copper Line – mist over a remembered field
A soft grey landscape of plaster layers with a single warm word: a rust-copper horizontal band runs in the upper third of the canvas, strongest from the centre toward the left, thinning and fading toward the right – like a horizon the mist has already half taken.
Technique & Texture
The greys are laid in soft, creased layers: darker crumpled plaster above, a pale grey field in the middle, silver-grey below with vertical streaks and folds. This is a hand-painted work of art – the copper band is the only place where the material warms.
The Motif
Just beneath the copper band hang dark, umber-blackish smudges, densest at the centre – the shadow under the horizon. At the middle of the canvas, a cool greenish hint is barely perceptible in the pale grey, and the lower half is articulated by vertical traces, a weaker darker band and a warmer grey bottom edge.
