Description

Ivory and Brown – a window of lighter plaster in a warm wall
A two-tone stucco meditation: the upper forty-five percent is warm camel-brown plaster, sandy and mottled, with darker stains toward the upper corners and the left edge, while into the lower half is inset a pale ivory rectangle with a camel-brown frame along its left, right and bottom edges.
Technique & Texture
The whole surface is heavy stucco: cracks, patched layers and worn transitions give it the look of an old fresco. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the ivory window is not painted on but inset as a lighter layer into the darker wall.
The Motif
Along the top edge of the ivory rectangle sit three to four tiny dark notches – shadows suggesting the window once carried something. It is precisely these small things that give the calm composition its age and its story.
Styling & Placement
