This abstract painting glows in deep shades of sea green and anthracite, through which energetic white strokes slash the dark background like lightning. Technique & Texture
The white sweeps are incised with a palette knife across dark masses laid on with a brush, and over them stretch webs of white spatter. The artist incised each white sweep into the dark background with a single decisive stroke – a hand-painted artistic painting in the true sense of the word.
The Motif
The central white flash climbs from the lower centre toward the top, while a horizontal white streak crosses the right half – two forces of light in a dark space. The mauve-grey field in the lower left calms the storm for a moment, and the golden sparks set it alight again.
