Flowers III – two heads on a field of script
Wall art inscribes two orange-red flowers into a creamy beige field that is covered end to end with flowing, handwriting-like strokes, and gives each of them five gold-rimmed heart petals around a tightly gathered centre: modern painting whose ground is treated as a written page.
Technique and texture
Gilding along the petal rims came after the modelling and before the smoothing, which is why those edges throw a harder highlight than the matt field they sit on. That surface was laid on thick and then floated until it looks like coarse plaster, and the upright sticks were pressed straight into it. The script was drawn with a fine tip into paint that had already dried, which is why it stays black and sharp-edged.
The motif
Neither flower sits at the height of the other, and neither faces the same way: the left is lower and tilted, the right higher and open straight out. Long gold-ochre leaves grow from both stems and open downward. The script is not language — its lines are ruled at even intervals and give the field a pulse beneath the flowers.
Setting and placement
The script runs the entire width, so anything that interrupts the wall interrupts the sentence with it. The earth palette leaves the furniture alone, while the density of the relief pays off for anyone who walks up to it.
