Universe I – A Spiral That Pulls You to Its Centre
A single gigantic concentric spiral fills the entire canvas – like the rings of a tree, ripples on water, or the vortex of a galaxy. The painting is meditative and completely neutral in colour: from a silver-white core through greyish beige tones to brown and dark grey edges.
Technique & Texture
Dense, ribbed ridges drawn with a palette knife run in circles like the grooves of a vinyl record; tiny incisions here and there catch the light. It is a hand-painted artistic painting – the artist drew each circle in a single sweep, which can be seen in motion in the video above.
The Motif
The bright, silver-white core sits slightly left of the canvas centre and glows outward; the light fades with each ring until it settles into dark brown at the edges. Right of the core, two tiny dark knots interrupt the regularity of the rings – like knots in wood that make the spiral alive.

The first photograph shows Universe I on a studio easel in an optional slim silver-toned frame, and the second photograph views the canvas from the side, where the ribbed knife-drawn rings stand out in strong relief. The spiral with its silver-white core is hand-painted with a palette knife, ring by ring, so this painting is not a print.
It comes in 17 landscape sizes, from 60 x 30 to 340 x 160 cm. Over a 200 cm sofa the spiral fills two thirds of the width at 140 x 65 cm, over a longer one at 150 x 70 cm; above a 160–180 cm bed choose 120 x 60 cm, and for a long hallway wall 160 x 75 cm. With YES under Stretcher the grey-beige canvas arrives on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang.
