Yellow Circle – Bauhaus in colour and line
Constructivism in the spirit of the Bauhaus or a stained-glass window: a large yellow-orange circle at the upper left, a vertical axis of bars right of centre, S-curves, a teal crescent, orange wedges and black contours: the yellow circle fills the upper left, cut by the left edge, textured, warming to orange toward the lower right.
Technique & Texture
Across the full height right of centre runs a vertical strip of parallel bars – olive, white, grey – like a window mullion, and around it S-curves wind: a deep teal crescent at the mid-right, orange triangular wedges at the centre and right, white and olive curves at the lower centre. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – every shape is outlined by black contours.
The Motif
A slate-grey triangular field lies at the lower left, and a grey speckled plaster field is in the right background. A Bauhaus poster in which the circle, curves and triangles dance beside a strict vertical axis – order and movement at once.
