Green and Terracotta – a mid-century dialogue of planes

Technique & Texture
The red-brown rounded mass is at the upper centre and carries a solid black oval at the lower right, and an upright terracotta-orange wedge stands left of centre over a black gap, with thin white contour lines. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the planes are flat and decisive, the strokes visible.
The Motif
A beige plaster column at the far left carries white dots and dashed marks, a white vertical strip is right of centre, and an olive-green column at the right edge carries a khaki patch with short black stitch-marks and small circular scribbles at the lower right. A calm dialogue of warm and cool planes, where each colour gets its own space.
