Dark Peaks – a burning mountain ridge
A central ridge of dark anthracite spikes, interwoven with gold and silver-white, across a calm grey field: the ridge occupies a broad band through the middle, its sharp dark peaks pointing upward, the tallest clusters left and right of centre.
Technique & Texture
Gold leaf ribbons ride the flanks of every spike, silver-white impasto glows in the heart of the band, and rust-orange oxidation spots are scattered through the centre. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the gold and silver are real layers that play in the light.
The Motif
Below the ridge the spikes fray into drips falling toward the bottom, while the upper and lower edges stay softly grey. Mountain peaks that burn – a dramatic rhythm of ascent and fall on a single line.
