Description

Line-work – calligraphy on peach plaster
Bold black calligraphic strokes on a warm salmon-peach plaster ground, like a standing figure made of lines and one heavy slab: the main bundle of thick vertical strokes runs top to bottom left of centre, forking into two prongs at the top and folding into a knee at the lower left.
Technique & Texture
On the right stands a broad rounded black slab with a dry-brushed scratch in its lower half, and between the bundle and the slab runs a thin vertical line. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the strokes are pulled decisively and in a single breath.
The Motif
The plaster is a mottled peach with rust freckles and soft cloud patches, and the contrast between the black and the warmth is gentle, not aggressive. Two protagonists – the bundle of lines and the slab – converse across a warm emptiness.
Styling & Placement
An expressive decorative painting for living rooms, offices and entrance halls; the warm peach ground ties it to wood and terracotta, and the black calligraphy gives it character. Wall art for walls that can carry one decisive gesture.
