Figures in Turquoise – the same build in a cold key
Painting on canvas chills the same structure into turquoise, grey and white and moves the white mass into the upper half — decorative painting rehearsing its own grey version at a lower temperature.
Technique and texture
Thin layers carry the turquoise and then scratched back to the white ground in places, so the colour reads like ice. Each white mass is a blade-load with a rolling, uneven rim. Thin dark streams run down the whole canvas from top to bottom.
The motif
The upper mass is larger and calm, the lower smaller and more agitated, so a tension forms between them. Turquoise appears in narrow bands beside both masses and outlines them. Here too the title promises figures and the canvas keeps pure white shapes, and below the upper mass a smaller rectangular bright plane sits ringed with dark and turquoise traces.
Setting and placement
Cold turquoise and white are light in weight, so this one brightens even a smaller or darker corner. Beside grey or timber furniture its colour stays the main accent.
