Description
White Planes – architecture drawn in a whisper
A warm white-cream field on which stacked squares are outlined with a pencil-thin grey line: a smaller one at the upper left, a large tilted square at the upper right of centre – the only diagonal of an otherwise right-angled composition – and a large square left of centre in the lower half.
Technique & Texture
The surface is plaster with a fine relief: impasto smears at the upper left and along the middle left edge, and pale pink-beige hints inside the planes. This is a hand-painted work of art – the thin lines are drawn by hand and tremble here and there, which gives the drawing its life.
The Motif
Across most of the width, at half the height, runs a straight horizontal line like a guide; a narrow vertical strip descends through the lower half, and along the right edge a columnar band holds nearly the full height. Grey shadows gather softly at the corners of the outlines – a suggestion of space, not its description.

White Planes: a square canvas for minimalist rooms
White Planes comes in 14 square sizes, from 40 x 40 to 180 x 180 cm. Above a 200 cm sofa, 130 x 130 cm covers about two thirds of the width, 110 x 110 or 120 x 120 cm suits a bed 160–180 cm wide, and a round table 120 cm across takes 80 x 80 cm. In a narrow hallway the thin grey lines on cream already read well at 50 x 50 cm.
The first photograph shows White Planes in a light wooden frame above a low sofa draped in shaggy throws, and the second photograph shows it above a round wooden table with books and stools. Choose YES in the Stretcher menu and the cream canvas arrives on a wooden stretcher. A frame is optional: for White Planes the Frame menu starts at “Without frame”. Delivery takes 15–45 days. White Planes is hand-painted, its thin lines drawn freehand into a fine plaster relief, so this painting is not a print.
Who is White Planes for?
White Planes is for anyone who wants art on the wall but no noise of colour. The warm white and cream ground with thin grey square outlines works like an architect’s sketch: it orders the wall instead of filling it. The only diagonal, the tilted square at the upper right, gives it movement, so the painting never reads as an empty surface. In minimalist, Scandinavian or Japandi rooms it sits with linen, pale wood, ceramics and plants, and in a bedroom it calms, because the eye never stays anywhere too long.
How are the thin lines and the relief made?
White Planes is hand-painted by our painters. The ground is like plaster with a fine relief, with impasto smears at the upper left and along the left edge and pale pink-beige hints inside the planes. The thin grey lines are drawn freehand and tremble here and there, so the drawing stays alive, as if the painter had only just finished it. The first photograph shows the painting in a light wooden frame above a low sofa, the second above a round wooden table. Because each line is drawn by hand, the squares run a little differently on every canvas. We photograph the finished canvas and wait for your approval before it ships.
Rolled, stretched or framed?
We ship White Planes the way you choose: rolled, stretched on a wooden stretcher bar, or framed. Stretching and any framing take place in our workshop in Slovenia. With YES in the Stretcher menu the cream canvas arrives ready to hang; rolled comes in handy if a local framer will finish it. The light wooden frame in the first photograph brings out the warmth of the cream ground, while unframed the painting reads even more as part of the wall.
How should I hang and care for it?
Hang the square format with its centre about 150 cm from the floor; above a sofa or bed, keep the bottom edge 20 to 30 cm over the back. Because the lines are delicate, the painting needs enough light; by a window or under a ceiling light the grey outlines show up well. Protect the pale surface from smoke and kitchen grease, and dust it only with a dry soft cloth, no water or cleaners.
Is White Planes a suitable gift?
White Planes is a safe gift, because its quiet white adapts to almost any home. The 40 x 40 and 50 x 50 cm squares fit a shelf, a hallway or the wall above a chest of drawers. If the recipient would rather choose, give a gift voucher.
