Yellow Spark – four worlds and one warm drop
A flat landscape geometry of four worlds: a black band of sky across the upper sixth, beneath it a smooth grey wall down to a good two fifths, lower an olive-green field over the left and centre, and a cream-white wedge on the right that widens downward and runs along the bottom edge.
Technique & Texture
Each world has its own surface: the black is dense, the grey smooth, the olive scratched and scuffed, the cream calm. This is a hand-painted work of art – the black band’s lower edge is not straight but bulges slightly left of centre like a ridge.
The Motif
In the middle of the olive field hangs a mustard-yellow drop or leaf, leaning left and rounded at the bottom – the painting’s only warm event, its heart and its secret. The grey wall steps down at the right edge, where a smaller olive block bites into it, and an olive tongue stabs down into the cream at three quarters of the width.
