Description

Stones – a playful organic abstraction with a golden river
A playful composition in the spirit of the mid-century: on white plaster meet two hand-outlined black circles, a thick slate arc, a golden river and pale blue pools. The upper circle on the left embraces a grey arcade and a lime-green patch, while the lower one, left of centre, keeps an open, bluish interior.
Technique & Texture
All the forms are outlined freehand, and white curved lines stroll between them – a large white loop on the right and a long white S-curve across the lower half. This is a hand-painted work of art – the unfinishedness of the circles is not a flaw but its humour.
The Motif
Across the centre runs a broad ochre-gold band like a river, hooking down into a column at its left end; above it, at the centre, rests a slate arc like a bridge, and at the upper right a dark slate mass with a black rectangle at its lower left edge. Below gather two pale blue pools and a white rounded square.
Styling & Placement
A cheerful modern painting for living rooms, children’s rooms and creative offices; the retro organic forms tie beautifully to wood, rattan and mustard tones.
