The torso arches back, the face turned up-left, the raised arm reaching to the top where a soft white light blooms at the fingertips, and the other arm folds behind the neck. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the tutu feathers spread in painterly black plumes across the centre.

The background is a grey brushed field, brightest in the halo around the upper body and the light, and faint blue sky patches open in both upper corners; below seventy percent of the height lies a darker slate floor band with blue-grey strokes and a shadow beneath the pointe.
