Description

Rainbow – A Regatta of Colourful Sails on White Light
A joyful painting made with a palette knife: across the middle of the canvas sails a row of about eight tall triangular sails in rainbow colours – green, yellow, orange, red, violet, and blue follow one another like notes on a stave. Above them circle tiny gull silhouettes, each in the colour of one of the sails.
Technique & Texture
The entire canvas is built with a palette knife: each sail is set down in a single decisive sweep, while the white base carries dense, cross-dragged impasto. It is a hand-painted artistic painting – in the detail gallery you can examine up close the ridges of paint the knife leaves behind.
The Motif
The lower half of the painting is a reflection: the colours of the sails run downward in vertical, broken streams over the white texture and fade toward the bottom edge into pure white – a sea of light calmly mirroring the celebration above it. Thin masts above the sails and dark dashes of hulls give the regatta its drawing and order.
Styling & Placement
An optimistic painting for spaces that need energy and cheer – living rooms, children’s rooms, dining rooms, waiting rooms. Its white base makes it exceptionally adaptable to bright interiors.

Rainbow in portrait format
The regatta of rainbow sails is painted in 16 portrait sizes, from 40 x 50 to 180 x 295 cm. A narrow wall beside a window or between doors takes 50 x 70 or 60 x 80 cm, a console table suits 65 x 90 cm, the space beside a tall cabinet 75 x 100 cm, and a stairwell 100 x 130 cm, or 120 x 195 cm under a very high ceiling. Choose YES under Stretcher and the white canvas with its sails arrives on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. With Rainbow the frame is your choice, since the Frame menu starts at Without frame. Delivery takes 15–45 days.
The first photograph shows the painting face-on on a wooden easel in a bright room with a wooden floor, and the second photograph, taken from the side, reveals the thick palette-knife ridges on the white ground. The green, yellow, red and blue sails are hand-painted with a knife, so this is not a print.
Who is the Rainbow painting for?
Rainbow is for a room that needs cheer: a living room, a child’s room, a dining room or a waiting room. A regatta of tall triangular sails in rainbow colours sails across the middle of the canvas, tiny gulls circle above, and the lower half is a reflection that fades into white. Because the ground is white, Rainbow goes with almost any light furnishing and freshens the room without crowding it. The first photograph shows the painting face-on on a wooden easel in a bright room with a wooden floor.
How is the Rainbow painting made?
Rainbow is hand-painted by our painters with a palette knife. The white ground goes on as dense, cross-dragged impasto, then each sail is set down in one decisive sweep, and last come the thin masts, the dark dashes of the hulls and the gulls in the colours of the sails. The second photograph, taken from the side, shows the thick ridges of paint the knife leaves. When Rainbow is finished, we send you a photograph of it to approve and then ship it.
Rolled, stretched or framed?
We ship Rainbow the way you choose: rolled, stretched on a 2.5 cm deep wooden stretcher, or framed. Rainbow is stretched and framed in our workshop in Slovenia. Stretched, it arrives ready to hang; rolled is practical for the tall sizes up to 180 x 295 cm or when a framer near you will frame it. A white or light wooden frame keeps the sails in front.
How should I hang and care for it?
Keep the centre of Rainbow at eye level, about 150 cm from the floor; in a child’s room you can hang it a little lower, and by the stairs measure from the middle of the steps. The upright format belongs on a narrow wall beside a window or between doors. Clean the impasto ridges with a soft dry brush, without water.
Is Rainbow a good gift?
Rainbow is a cheerful gift for a child’s room, a new home or a lover of the sea and sailing; 40 x 50 and 50 x 70 cm also fit a smaller wall. If you are not sure which size of Rainbow is right, give a gift voucher.
