A Walk in Autumn – two beneath crowns of shattered glass
A tall park scene: slender dark trunks lean toward each other from left and right, and their crowns are a mosaic of sharp impasto facets – a dominant blue sky field with white light at the centre, green and yellow leaf fragments in between, and a strong red cluster at the upper right.
Technique & Texture
The crowns are laid on like shattered glass, the ground in long vertical strokes. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – it is precisely the sharp edges of the facets that give the light a reason to break.
The Motif
At the centre of the scene two tiny figures walk away – one dark, one in white – side by side toward the light. The warm orange-gold path beneath them carries long vertical reflections of trunks and figures, and the foreground corners are red-rust.
