Description
Ornament – a black-and-white composition with a single red event
A considered panoramic composition in black, white and grey with one single shining event: at the centre floats a large lacquer-red broken ring in the shape of the letter C, with its gap at the lower left – like a seal missing its final stroke. It is precisely this incompleteness that holds the gaze.
Technique & Texture
The ground is white-grey plaster with charcoal smudges and spray, while the red ring is smooth and glossy with dark edges. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the contrast between the matte ground and the ring’s lacquer sheen is physical, not printed.
The Motif
The accompaniment is measured exactly right: a matte silver-grey sphere at the lower left, two dark rectangles – a textured charcoal one at the upper left and a black dotted one on the right – and a soft pink-red square at the lower right of centre. Wiry black and white loops interlace the whole field and tie the elements into a quiet choreography.

Ornament in panoramic format: sizes and delivery
Ornament is painted in 18 landscape sizes, from 80 x 40 to 340 x 170 cm. Two thirds of a 200 cm sofa comes to 130 x 65 or 140 x 70 cm, a 160–180 cm bed takes 110 x 55 or 120 x 60 cm, and a 150 cm sideboard 100 x 50 cm. A long hallway has room for 180 x 90 or even 200 x 100 cm. Choose YES under Stretcher and the black-and-white canvas with its red ring arrives on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. A frame for Ornament is optional, and the Frame menu starts at Without frame. Delivery takes 15–45 days.
The first photograph shows Ornament face-on on a wooden studio easel, and the second photograph turns the same painting to the side, where the relief of the plaster ground and the gloss of the lacquer-red ring catch the light. Because it is hand-painted on canvas, the contrast between the matte ground and the glossy ring is something you can feel – it is not a print.
Ornament: common questions
Which size of Ornament suits a sideboard?
Above a sideboard of about 150 cm, choose 100 x 50 cm, so the red ring and its black-and-white field cover two thirds of the width.
Is a frame included with Ornament?
No, both photographs show Ornament unframed and the Frame menu starts at Without frame, so a frame is added only if you want one.
How long does delivery of Ornament take?
For all 18 sizes, from 80 x 40 to 340 x 170 cm, delivery takes 15–45 days.
Can I order Ornament in a size that is not listed?
If none of the 18 landscape sizes fits your wall, ask us about a painting made to order.
