Blue Tree – a cobalt crown over a misty bank

Technique & Texture
Beneath the crown a blue spatter falls like leaves just now dropping. This is a hand-painted art painting – the leaf drops are spattered and each is its own, while the background is a soft grey-white mist in horizontal bands.
The Motif
At mid-height a distant grey cluster hints through the mist – a far bank or a line of trees in the distance – and the bottom of the canvas is closed by a dark charcoal band of earth that gives the tree its ground. The crown flies to the left, like the clap of wings as a flock takes off.
