Technique & Texture
The entire surface carries a heavy stucco, wrinkled texture, while the ring is built from concentric palette-knife strokes. It is a hand-painted artistic painting – in side light the relief of the ring casts a real shadow.
The Motif
The interior of the ring is divided: the left half is a glassy teal glaze, the right a gold-brown vortex – like a coin half in shadow. Dark outline fragments circle its rim, and below and above the ring rises a golden pillar of light. A single motif, yet inexhaustible to the eye.
