Line Geometry – a black armature with one runaway stroke
An expressive black armature on textured white: a vertical bar at the upper left, a thick horizontal beam crossing the full width in the upper third at a slight slope, and a black vertical band on the right whose right flank is opened by three white notches at the right edge – windows.
Technique & Texture
The sweeps are broad, dry and decisive, and the white between them is not a background but an active plane – the central white window and the passages between the beams breathe as loudly as the black. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – the dry edges of the sweeps show the speed of the hand.
The Motif
Left of centre a vertical stroke descends through the lower half and meets the horizontal bar in an L-junction; then the painting does the unexpected: a diagonal sweep escapes from the centre down toward the lower right corner, tapering – the only move that keeps no right angle.
