Description
paintings – Coast – a rainbow wood over still water
Wall art twins a many-coloured wood in the calm water beneath it so that the upper and lower halves of the canvas carry the same colour sequence: decorative painting that gets its structure from a fold rather than from a composition.
Technique and texture
The canopies are built from dense short loads of the blade that stand off the canvas and catch light like moss. The water is the opposite of that — pulled downward in long, smooth, thin passes with no relief at all. Thin dark trunks are drawn through the canopies, cut into paint that was still wet.
The motif
The reflection is not an exact copy: the colours in the water are softer and drawn out, and the outlines dissolve. Canopies run from green and turquoise on the left through yellow, orange and red to pink and violet on the right, without a break anywhere in the passage. A narrow dark band of shore lies between wood and reflection and is the only place the picture goes quiet.
Setting and placement
A colour range this wide takes the role of the main chromatic event in a room, so the wall behind it should be plain and of one colour. Side light is what makes the relief of the canopies legible; flat light gives most of it away.

Landscape sizes of Coast
The rainbow wood and its reflection are painted in 19 landscape sizes, from 80 x 40 to 340 x 170 cm. Over a 220 cm sofa, Coast at 150 x 75 cm covers about two thirds of the width; above a 180 cm double bed 120 x 60 cm is enough, and over a 200 cm dining table 130 x 65 cm. A long hallway or an empty lobby wall can take 200 x 100 cm or more, right up to 340 x 170 cm.
Choose YES in the Stretcher menu and the mirrored-wood canvas of Coast arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang. A frame for Coast is optional, as the Frame menu starts at Without frame. Delivery takes 15–45 days. The Coast painting is hand-painted with a palette knife, so the canopies from turquoise to violet are raised paint, not a print.
Coast: questions before ordering
Which size of Coast suits a wall above a double bed?
For a 180 cm bed we suggest 120 x 60 cm, or 130 x 65 cm under a higher ceiling, so the rainbow band stays in balance.
Is Coast a printed canvas?
Coast is not printed – the short dense knife loads in the rainbow canopies and the smooth passes of the water are laid on the canvas by hand.
How long does delivery of Coast take?
For all 19 sizes of Coast, from 80 x 40 to 340 x 170 cm, delivery takes 15–45 days.
Can I order Coast in another landscape size?
If your wall needs a measurement that is not among the 19 offered, write to us about a painting made to order with the rainbow wood.
