Cherry Blossom – a spring avenue above a wet mirror
A cherry avenue in full bloom: dark slender trunks lean inward from both sides and weave a pink-and-white vault over the path. Among the crowns stand six wrought-iron street lamps, three on each side, shrinking toward the centre – unlit, the white sky glinting in their heads.
Technique & Texture
The blossom is built from dense layers of pink and white with deeper pink shadows, and along the lower edge of the crowns and both edges of the path, yellow-green and tender green leaf tufts mix among the flowers. This is a hand-painted work of art – every blossom stroke carries its own tiny shadow.
The Motif
The path is wet, pale paving and runs toward a bright point at the centre, where the avenue dissolves into haze; long vertical reflections of trunks, lamps and blossom trail along it. At the very end of the avenue burns a white and yellowish light – the destination of the walk.
