Quiet Planes – a wall fragment elevated to art
Three plaster planes in earth tones, joined by raised seams: the left third is held for the full height by a mottled grey-taupe column, while the right side is shared by a smooth cement grey-beige block above and a warm copper-brown block below, with a richer cracked texture.
Technique & Texture
The borders between the planes are not drawn lines but physical plaster ridges: a vertical seam at a third of the width and a horizontal one at seven tenths of the height. This is a hand-painted painting on canvas – in side light the two seams throw real shadows and separate the planes like phases of masonry.
The Motif
The upper left corner darkens into a smoky stain, and the copper-brown block carries the densest cracks and scuffs – the oldest part of the wall, the one that tells the most. The cool grey above and the warmth at the lower right balance each other without a single figure.
