Jeanne Hébuterne, described by writer Charles-Albert Cingria as gentle, shy, quiet and delicate, was Modigliani’s central muse as well as his companion. After Modigliani contracted tuberculosis and died in 1920, a pregnant Jeanne threw herself from the fifth floor just one day later.
