Claude MonetMeadow at Giverny
Description
Meadow at Giverny was painted in 1886, in the first years after Monet moved to the village on the Seine. The canvas is upright, which is unusual for an open landscape: the meadow rises towards the top edge and the trees are cropped, so that the viewer stands in the middle of the grass rather than in front of it.
The original is oil on canvas, 92.1 × 81.6 cm. It is held by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, accession number 39.670.
Our reproduction is a hand-painted oil painting on canvas. It is not a print. Every canvas is painted individually by an artist, so no two are ever exactly alike.

“As a painter I have done what I could, and that seems to me enough. I do not wish to be compared to the great masters of the past, and my painting belongs to criticism; that is sufficient.”
