Description
A Corner of the Apartment was painted in 1875 in Monet’s house at Argenteuil. The eye is led through a dark interior towards a lit window; among the hanging plants stands the small figure of his son Jean. This time the painter was chasing the outdoor light from indoors, which is rare for him.
The original is oil on canvas, 81 × 60 cm, an upright format. It is held by the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, accession number RF 2776.
