Claude MonetRouen Cathedral, Portal and Tower Saint-Romain in Full Sunlight
Description
Rouen Cathedral, Portal and Tower Saint-Romain in Full Sunlight is from 1893. It is the midday version of the same framing: the stone takes in so much light that blue gives way to gold and ochre, while the shadows in the portal stay cool. The series was made by changing canvases through the day as the sun moved on.
The original is oil on canvas, 107 × 73.5 cm, an upright format. It is held by the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, accession number RF 2002.
Our reproduction is a hand-painted oil painting on canvas. It is not a print. Every canvas is painted individually by an artist, so no two are ever exactly alike. Warm gold tones work well under warmer lighting and against wood.

Claude Monet
“As a painter I have done what I could, and that seems to me enough. I do not wish to be compared to the great masters of the past, and my painting belongs to criticism; that is sufficient.”
100% hand-painted paintings
Every painting is painted by an artist with a brush on canvas – never a print.
